Harold Edgerton - Still life
Im not to sure wether I like these photos or not I'm quite undecided about them, because I don't know wether I like the way he has done it or not they look weird. Also in a way you could also question if it is still life because the objects are moving and are only still in the photograph because of how fast the shutter speed was. He uses a variety of different objects mainly food or drink, he uses a bullet or something like that to shoot quickly into the food/drink/object to make the unusual effects of the photograph. This isn't the normal still life images you would see these objects are being obstructed. I think his use of color and the way he does it is very interesting and unordinary. You can tell he would have to have a quick reaction because as soon as that bullet or whatever goes through he has to wait for that exact moment that they collide. He has done it well with the composition and the colors and is all done very technically well done but the photos don't appeal to me. He is obviously trying to capture something the human eye doesn't normally see, he has
succeeded with it. If I was to do something like this I would do it with different objects for example ice-cream or something
like that.
Still life
Still life is usually a basic picture of a object. To get a good picture of a still life photo you need to think a lot about lighting. Sometimes people challenge still life and do it completely different to what it would normally be like to stand out.

Landscape Photography
Charlie Waite
I do really like this photo, its the way he has composes them. He uses a lot of leading lines in his work and just lines in general, wether they're vertical or horizontal. I have noticed also in his photos that there is always something right in the center on the photo either light or a object. You can tell with a lot of his photos that he had to wait for the right time. Patience is important in this kind of photography For example if it was a cloudy day on some of his shoots then he would of waited till the sun was completely out. He would have had to plan it all before he went out and actually did it. He uses a variety of different landscapes some are in forests, some in fields, some of mountains and some even urban landscape photography. He makes these images look interesting and different with the use of line that he uses. You can tell he has probably taken a lot of time to go out and shoot these until he got the image that he wanted. He has definitely considered his composition and the angles he has taken the photo as you can tell some of them aren't taken straight on. You can tell he is capturing the places he has gone to and made it look different to what it would look like if we was just going to go to that place. If I was to do something like this I would defiantly try and use the lines like he has it has made the images more interesting to look at and you can tell they're very technically well done.
In landscape photography you would use a large aperture of something like f22 to ensure the depth of field is right. You would also usually us a tripod for this so you can ensure you get a sharp image and so you can slightly move it. Landscape Is usually don't in places with a lot of nature. This type of landscape photography requires a lot of time, you have to take your time with the shots because you have to make sure the lighting is right that the angle you have is right and that nothing is in the shot that you don't want to be there. The photographers that normally photograph this are trying to show you and enhance the beauty of the world/beauty. Another type of landscape photography is urban photography. This is where the photographer goes out and takes the photograph onto the streets for they're like streets and stuff like that. With these photos it takes time and to get the right angle, because you could be ready to take a shot and someone walks into it and you take the photo, then if you take it as soon as they're out of the shot it becomes a completely different photograph. A lot of photographers use large format camera for this type of photography because the depth of field is so sharp and the negatives are that big that the detail is immaculate. Thomas Albdorf
I really like his work because it is different to what normal photographers would normally do. It challenges normal landscape photography by placing unnatural things into the environment. He has used a square format film camera, then he has also drawn something onto some acetate or some transparent material. He has also used a wire to pin them up but he has also pinned up random colored fabric on a wire or string or something like that. The thing I find really interesting about this work is the way that the scenery its self isn't very nice that all but the fact he has added this random thing into the photograph make you focus more on that then the background its self. You joust think to yourself oh that doesn't look normal. If i was to produce some work inspired by this I would bace the objects on something like a pair of sock and hang them over a washing line in the center of the photo but do it in different places not just woods. So it would be like hanging your clothes out on a washing line but in random places you would never see it.Todd Hido
I really like the way that this photographer had changed the perspective of normal landscape photography. He challenges normal landscape photography by taking photographs through car windows whatever the weather. He takes the photographs the places or subjects at whatever speed he is going so if he is going fast he will still take the photo and you can tell by the blur of the photo. Some of his photos that are taken the day has obviously been foggy, rainy, sunny or snowing it varies throughout his work. The thing that makes me interested about his work is the fact he goes out in any weather, it makes you awake that a picture doesn't only look good on a sunny day, it can look good in any weather as long as you get the right shot. If I was to so something like this I think it would be interesting to do it more urban landscape photography and on a train so when you are going into train stations on the train etc. Studio
Annie Leibovitz - Portraiture I really like this work because it bring back a lot of memories for me personally as a child. I was a huge Disney fan and still am know, these photographs are amazing. The way she has brought the cartoon characters to life but still made the photos so child like and almost animated. She used models in her work but sometimes its just well known people for example Johnny Depp, Taylor Swift and Russel Brand. For example Johnny Depp was featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean as the main and she has used him in her photos. She takes a lot of photos and makes the model do a lot of work and moving about until she knows she has the perfect shot for the final outcome to be completed. You can tell she has thought about the composition in her photographs because they're very well thought out and planned before she has actually taken them. Also if you look at the photos above nothing clashes it is all very well organised. I think her use of color is amazing and nothing looks out of place. She uses quite a simple lighting set up takes the photo and then gives it to the editing team to make it look magical. I think she photographs a lot of her work in the studio but if there is a shot that with editing work would look good outside she will take them outside like the once below. I think she was trying to capture something special with the photos. Something that both children and adults would smile at and look up to. A word to describe these photos are breathtaking because they're making the people who kids look up to and not changing the setting they're in so children still believe in it all. If I was to shoot something like this I would have to consider the people I would need to help me with this i.e makeup artists, costume designers, set constructors and people to help me edit. I would also have to think of what message I want to put across either it being a magical one or a fashion based one or maybe something else, maybe advertising or just to illustrate something or a article.
Outside
I really lilt this work because it is quite dreamy and very well composed. She has made them just a little bit overexposed but I think she has done this to add a dreamy effect to it. She has obviously not used models for her work but i don't know if she has seen them in the street/park and just asked to take a photograph of them or seen them advance and asked them to come and pose. They're obviously posed but they don't look like your average model. You can tell she has thought a lot about the way the models look and the composition and the colors and angles in the photograph. Also when you look at the photo nothing clashes its all soft but none of the colors really clash at all. She photographs most of her photographs outside but if it isn't outside then it is in a messy slump or something. I think she was trying to show that everyone is beautiful or something like that. A word to describe these photos are soft because they're quite soothing to look at and nothing in particular really draws your attention unless they're using a object or something. If I was to do something like this I would use people with pastel colored hair and clothing like that to do it.
Laura Pannack
The way she has done these photos are amazing. This challenges a normal portrait photo because she has added a sheet of glass in between the lens and the subject to create a sort of soft dreamy effect. The technique she has has used is taking a normal photograph and adding something in front of the subject. The thing I find interesting about her is the fact she made the subjects close their eyes so they didn't know when the photo was being taken so they couldn't react to it. Also the way that it is actually taken it is interesting and weird in the same way. If I was to do something like this I think it would be cool to do it with a piece of colored acetate to make it a different color but give it sort of the same effect.
This is the picture I have taken whilst challenging the perspective of landscapes. I have crossed over urban landscape and natural landscape. This picture is a nice shot. I like the way the red contrasts to the blue sky.
This is the picture i have taken to challenge the perspective of portrait. I have challenged the perspective by taking it through glass this is quite like Laura Pannack. I changed it by using patterned glass and posed the model. I do like this photo with the depth of field etc.
This is a picture I have taken to challenge the perspective of still life. I have challenged it by putting a pen in front of a projector to make a shadow. I do like this image but I think I could do it a lot better.
